Job Description – Licensed Clinical Therapist
SUMMARY: Under general direction from the Program Director or Clinical Supervisor, provides outpatient psychotherapy and counseling services to CANA Counseling clients and other collaborations as necessary.
•Assigned productivity standards are met. May be assigned Clinical Assessment counseling and Clinical Assessment Reports for Immigration Services as a portion of clinical hours.
•Interviews clients to assess emotional, social, and educational needs. Completes and records intake assessments, social histories, mental status exams, suicide and other risk assessments and other related information according to agency policies.
•Provides accurate diagnoses, develops treatment plans with clients to assist clients in meeting their goals. Treatment plan updates are due every 90 days or in response to client sentinel events.
•Provides appropriate referrals to clients to other agencies or services as needed.
•Conducts individual, couple, family, or group therapy sessions. Provides a strengths approach to client problems and concerns. Confers with outside providers to document client progress where appropriate.
•Promotes program services and maintains professional contacts with other area providers/agencies. Represents program to interested groups through discussions or seminars on psychoeducational topics.
•Participates in clinical supervision, peer review, and case record review according to agency policies to ensure quality care of clients and compliance with case records.
•Works effectively with Program Director to actively seek out promotional opportunities for CANA Counseling and for staff clinical expertise.
•Demonstrates an understanding of, and support for, the mission of Catholic Charities and acts as a representative of Catholic Charities in this role.
•Performs other related assigned duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Clinical master’s degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, or Licensed Professional Counselor.
CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION, OR LICENSE: Kansas State clinical license (a license to practice independently) as required by professional regulatory board or professional association strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Two years post-graduate clinical experience and proficient use of current DSM edition.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use a personal computer via mouse and keyboard with familiarity with Windows and Microsoft products. Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish is preferred. Registered Play Therapist is preferred. Employee must be willing to become proficient in use of Electronic Health Record.
