Job Description

Position Description:

The Transportation Specialist – Class A provides non-emergency transportation services for elderly and disabled clients requiring ambulatory, wheelchair and stretcher transportation. The primary responsibility of this position is to safely transport clients from private residences, nursing homes and hospitals to their appointments.

Employment Requirements:
• Must be at least 21 years of age, per insurance requirements
• Must have one year driving experience
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license issued by the state of legal residence
• Must maintain an acceptable driving record as evidenced on MVR
• Must be able to pass a company sponsored physical exam
• Must be able to pass a company sponsored Physical Duties Assessment
• Must be able to pass a company sponsored Drug Screening
• Must be able to pass a company sponsored Tuberculosis Test
• Must be able to pass Criminal Background Checks, which include fingerprinting
• Must be able to pass First Aid certification
• Must be able to pass CPR certification

Essential job functions:
• Comply with company operating procedures relating to driver safety and training
• Transport clients to and from medical appointments and other outings as needed
• Assist ambulatory, wheelchair, and stretcher passengers to and from the vehicle
• Assist ambulatory, wheelchair, and stretcher passengers in and out of the vehicle
• Safely transfer passengers confined to a stretcher onto and off of the stretcher.
• Safely load/unload and secure ambulatory, wheelchair, and stretcher passengers
• Escort all passengers to their specific appointment
• Communicate with Dispatchers regarding location and status as required
• Report any vehicle maintenance issues immediately
• Complete Incident Reports as needed
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle
• Complete Daily Driving Logs and other reports as needed
• Maintain vehicle by keeping it clean and fueled
• Comply with company dress code and other policies and procedures
• Observe and comply with traffic regulations
• Perform all job functions in a professional and reliable manner
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary
