About this Role:

The Center for Outcomes Research and Epidemiology (CORE) within Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology – College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Fellow (Post Doc). The purpose of this position is to provide training and research support to the center and collaborate on the ongoing and developing research initiatives including NBAF research collaborations.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Analyze disease spread and outbreak response model scenarios results by methods such as multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) and game theoretic methods
  • Evaluate the trade-offs of different disease response decisions and to identify optimal disease response strategies
  • Focus on identifying optimal solutions to management of a potential Foot and Mouth disease introduction to the United States to improve preparedness and mitigate impacts
  • Participate in the design, statistical analysis, interpretation and reporting of data sets pertaining to research related to disease modeling, animal health, and veterinary medicine
  • Support collaborative research on several studies as they pertain to creation and management of disease modeling data, data collection, cleaning, and data mining, literature searches, and systematic reviews of the literature
  • Scientific writing; scientific manuscripts for publication and reports.
  • Help implement and administer projects, disseminate new knowledge and tools resulting from research
  • Lead and support activities for enhancing research funding, including identifying and reviewing requests for proposals, and writing text for grants/contracts/proposals/protocols

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in biostatistics, agricultural statistics, quantitative epidemiology, decision theory or related quantitative fields
  • Analytical skills, application of statistical and or decision methods to analyze disease transmission model and health/population data
  • Skills and experience in study design, statistical analysis and interpretation of data/results
  • Good scientific writing to contribute to reports, journal articles and/or grant proposals
  • Demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills with statistical software programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and applied expertise in both experimental and observational research design and analysis
  • Familiarity with health and/or agricultural production systems, experience with decision analysis tools

$ 47,476 – $ 65,000 annual salary
