Vice President/General Manager has P&L responsibility for an aerospace metallics or composites structures manufacturing business and has a number of direct reports who lead functional disciplines such as Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Human Resources, etc. Ensures that quality, cost and schedule for production activities are maintained in accordance with commitments made to customers and company management. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
? Provide ongoing leadership in the development and refinement of business strategy, in support of corporate business objectives and in conjunction with the corporation’s board and executive leadership.
? Direct all aspect of management, planning, budgeting and execution and is responsible for the overall business performance. Demonstrate a relentless commitment to prudent financial management and operational excellence.
? Establish and implement short and long range goals and objectives; preserves corporate standards for ethics, quality, customer responsiveness and accountability.
? Oversee and, at times, direct the interface with customers. Is deeply involved in building and maintaining relationships with key customers.
? Serve as a visible leader for the business and model behavior consistent with the expectations of the corporation.
? Direct full range of direct and indirect functions of the business through a team of functional managers and supervisors. Advocate continuous improvement principles and concepts to attain the company’s vision of efficient manufacturing within a lean enterprise. Define and recommend manufacturing objectives consistent with the company’s strategic plan.
? Establish and maintain effective communication with subordinates, executive management and customers.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
? Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; master’s degree preferred.
? 10 – 15 years of related progressive management experience in aerospace manufacturing.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
? Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques
? Fluent level of written/verbal communication skills; effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and develop business relationships with a diverse range of individuals.
? Strong business acumen and the ability to develop, communicate and execute a strategic vision; is expected to drive execution.
? Good problem-solving and negotiation skills; ability to apply good judgment in new or unusual circumstances.
? Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop people; is able to obtain results by delegation.
? Is able to manage workloads and prioritize requests to meet deadlines.
? Must be able to travel, both domestically as well as internationally on an occasional basis.
? Must qualify as a U.S. Person as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) in order to access export controlled technology.
? Occasional (up to 20% of time) domestic and possible international travel away from home location required.
? Working conditions generally consist of office and shop floor environments; other than safety glasses, additional personal protective equipment generally not required.
? May be required to lift up to 20 – 30 on an occasional basis.
? Week-end and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines and schedules
