The Exercise Technician assists the professional staff with the monitoring of cardiac patients and patients with peripheral artery disease during their outpatient stay in the Cardiac Rehabilitation program located within Stormont-Vail Health Cardiac Imaging and Rehabilitation. Responsibilities include assessment before, during and after exercise for appropriate hemodynamic response. The Exercise Technician has a basic understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, disease, risk factors, and heart rhythm disorders and recognizes inappropriate blood pressure responses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Schedules patients for outpatient cardiac rehabilitation
+ Enters patient charges for Phase II sessions
+ Reconciles charges daily.
+ Collects Phase III payments; gives patient receipt and sends money to HSD business office.
+ Assists patients with exercise equipment as needed
+ Monitors patients’ EKG rhythm throughout Phase II rehabilitation session.
+ Assesses patients’ response to exercise via blood pressure measurements before, during and after exercise.
+ Performs data entry for the Montana Outcomes Data Registry.

Education / Experience:
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or degree in exercise science.
Must successfully complete: 1) Exercise Technician Checklist, 2) attend the Dysrhythmia Class and pass the written test within 90 days of hire and 3) Pass the department specific EKG identification test with a minimum score of 90%. .
