Summary:

Performs radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.repares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures.djusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.

Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.oves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.Performs office work including, but not limited to, answering phone, obtaining information from computer, and ordering departmental supplies.Assist in training students and/or new staff.Provides a positive image to customers by creating a friendly atmosphere and placing a high priority on meeting customer needs in a courteous manner.Provides services in a prompt manner at times convenient for the customers.Understands and practices patient confidentiality.Displays a professional appearance.Responds to needs and is knowledgeable of appropriate care for school-aged through gerontological patients.Is supportive of the mission, vision and goals of SVH in attitude and action.Contributes to a team atmosphere by demonstrating excellent communication skills, taking initiative to perform needed tasks, and being flexible to go beyond normal expectations to meet the needs of others . Willingly accepts various work assignments. Is accountable and responsible for own actions/decisions.Demonstrates an openness to change through suggestions and constructive criticism.Approaches each day with a positive attitude and enthusiasm for jobAdjusts break and lunch schedules to accommodate patient care.Does not accrue overtime unnecessarily or abuse sick-time.Demonstrates proper use of equipment, time, and supplies in efforts to control costs.Contributes to achievement of department and SVH financial goals by offering suggestions to reduce resource utilization.Demonstrates a commitment to continuing personal and/or professional development.Maintains CEU’s for certification.Seeks opportunities to improve knowledge base by attending departmental meetings, in services and other educational activities.

Hospital (HSD) specific responsibilities: Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.Measures and mixes barium and contrast media.Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient’s bedside. Clinic (MSD) specific responsibilities: Phlebotomy, point of care testing, assisting nursing staff with rooming patients, cleaning exam rooms, answering phones, and checking in patients. Women’s Center – Bone Density specific responsibilities: Performs, analyzes bone density testing utilizing dual energy x-ray absorptiometry equipment. Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school required. Two years experience in hospital/clinic is highly desirable.

Certificates and Licenses:

Meets the requirements for registry by the ARRT. Passage of ARRT is required within 12 months of employment to maintain position. Must have current Kansas license within 60 days of hire, or within 60 days of obtaining ARRT registry. Current CPR Certification.
