We are seeking an Engineering Launch Manager to join our team in Wichita. In this role, you will support the development of design briefings for new product ideas, including specifications, sketches and/or models to present a clear, focused concept for strategic consideration. This individual develops Launch Plans and Activities to support New Product launches which spans simple to complex projects, from concept to full rate production, obtaining the most efficient manufacturing process.
Act as the Plant representative on new product launch or early warning teams.
Develop and coordinate launch budgets, secures required resources, and uses formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks and changes.
Manages launch timelines and facilitates meetings to overcome obstacles, communicate updates and recoveries as appropriate through timely and accurate information and status updates to functional leaders.
Directing other launch team members to success, and monitor performance and recommend schedule changes, cost adjustments or resource additions.
Investigates facts and develops solutions to problems during the design and planning phases.
Assess cost, product quality, and worker safety by analyzing current methods, new methods, new technologies and cost reduction activities in selected areas.
May be responsible for feasibility studies and field trials management.
Provides assistance and technical support to the plant in all areas related to launch quality such as PFMEA’s, PIR’s, CQA’s etc.
Lead EPM or EEM Pillar and WPI activities.
May review and guide the work of less senior Manufacturing Engineers or Launch team members.
Other related duties as assigned.
The qualified candidate will have:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with emphasis in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Agricultural, and/or Electrical disciplines.
5 or more years of experience in engineering and project management engineering
2 or more years of experience with product launch.
The ideal candidate will have:
Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and capabilities, including JIT, JIS, Poka Yoke, Design for Manufacturability, etc. is required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead through influence, facilitation, and conflict resolution.
AME or Launch Management experience in a heavy or off-road equipment manufacturing
Experience with Phased Gate Product Development processes
Direct experience with launching product into Manufacturing facility
Experience and working knowledge of WCM/Lean Manufacturing concepts
Experience managing large project budgets and schedules
