Summary of Responsibilities

This position serves as a member of the Office of Admissions team, managing the Texas 1-35 corridor and surrounding recruitment territories, specifically the Austin, Houston and San Antonio metro areas. The Houston Regional Admissions Representative position is a 12-month contract and is based in a residential office in the state of Texas. The position is critical to the enrollment goals of Wichita State University.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree by hire date

Minimum Experience

  • Experience in a recruiting/admissions setting OR one year of experience working at an institution for higher education.
  • Experience working with high school and college transfer students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience managing budgets, projects and timelines.
  • Experience in providing exceptional student customer service.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Will be expected to gain knowledge about all facets of University life and admissions/enrollment processes and be able to clearly communicate with prospective students, parents, school counselors, and other influential adults.
  • Will be expected to gain functional knowledge of Office of Admissions procedures, processes and protocol.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours for various recruiting and admissions functions.
  • Ability to travel by automobile or plane for recruitment purposes throughout Texas and occasionally to regional/national conferences.
  • Able to work with WSU’s student information system and understand the functioning of the admissions-related data forms. Should have high-level functioning of information system.
  • Access to a reliable automobile to be used for recruitment purposes throughout the state of Texas. (The selected candidate will be provided with a fleet car, but will need access to a reliable automobile in case of fleet care maintenance.)
  • A residential office based in Texas is required, as is an internet connection. (The selected candidate will be provided with a university phone, laptop computer and office supplies.)
  • Must be able to fit in with and contribute to existing team.
  • Expected to be able to manage all facets related to programming, planning and execution; including catering, logistics, attendance, success/assessment and matriculation.
