Burns & McDonnell is looking for the unique, positive, results driven, collaborative, highly motivated Project Manager that has a desire to apply their technical design, leadership, and management experience, while actively engaging their entrepreneurial spirit in the POL industry in our Kansas City, MO location\.

Project Manager will represent Burns & McDonnell in primary client communications from initial project concept efforts, throughout entire design activities, construction activities and post project follow up\.

The Project Manager is accountable for leading a multidisciplinary design team to perform design of the project from concept to delivery, including communication of design roles, schedule and quality control as well as monitoring client satisfaction, accounts receivable, engineering discipline billability, and project profitability\.

Project Managers are Seller/Doers who develop and maintain client relationships and market sectors, with responsibility for coordinating and leading project teams to perform on resulting projects\.The ideal candidate for this position will have prior experience in managing POL facilities and POL infrastructure projects for DOD agencies, including developing qualifications packages, negotiating fixed price task orders, and delivering both full design projects and design\-build requests for proposals \(RFP’s\)\.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

\-Require thorough understanding of project management principles and tactics necessary to achieve primary business and design objectives\.

\-Directs and coordinates activities of several engineering disciplines on projects of moderate scope or a combination of smaller projects; implement projects whose complexity and scope vary based on Project Manager level of experience\.

\-Communicates, coordinates, and collaborates with senior management

\-Defines project scope, schedule, and budget

\-Creates detailed work plans and schedules which identify and sequence the activities and resources needed to successfully complete projects

\-Determine the resources \(time, money, equipment, etc\.\) required to complete projects including fee proposals and negotiations

\-Determine the objectives and measures upon which projects will be evaluated at its completion

\-Negotiating with contractors and suppliers for materials and services

\-Execute projects according to the project plan; develop forms and records to document project activities; set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured

\-Risk: from initial project selection, constantly analyzes, anticipates, quantifies, and mitigates risk \(technical, schedule, constructability, etc\.\)\.

\-Coordination, hands on management, oversight and communication with the client, the construction team, 3rd party vendors, internal company design and drafting teams, and our internal management and executive team\.

\-Deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government, and public contacts on project\-related matters\.

\-Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards

\-Manage project staff according to the established Burns & McDonnell policies and practicesand lead team to develop all deliverables

\-Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality

\-Evaluate team members’ performance

\-Ensuring the architecture, design and specification documentation meets the needs of all stake holders such as service, quality, reliability, functionality, sustaining engineering team, etc\.

\-Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures

\-Ensure that all financial records for the project are up to date

\-Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for clients as outlined in proposal agreement

\-Regularly monitor cash flow projections and reports in customized project performance system

\-Create proposals

\-Assist marketing in Requests for Proposals / Opportunities

\-Conduct / assist in the “Go/No Go” decision making process

\-May initiate or assist in contract negotiations or preparation\.

Additional duties:

\-Business Development: Establish continuing contacts with existing and new prospects in the POL/Fueling market sector; Coordinates contacts between staff and proposed clients; serve as principal client contact when necessary\.

\-Organize development of marketing’s resources; establish goals, objectives, strategies, and budget requirements for developing new business\.

\-Other duties as assigned\.



\-Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, environmental science, or related technical field from accredited four\-year university program

\-Master’s degree preferred

\-Project Management Professional \(PMP\)® Certification is preferred

\-Professional Registration \(PE, RA or similar\) is preferred

\-Experience with government contracting preferred

\-Experience with Federal/DOD fuel facility and fuel system management preferred

\-Excellent written and verbal communication skills and IT skills

\-Legally authorized to work in the United States

\-Minimum 10 years, preferably in Program Management, managing complex programs/projects

Travel required: Availability for 15% to 60% domestic and international travel
