Jig Builder \- 1st Shift
To independently plan, layout, build, repair and maintain complicated jigs and fixtures\.
Jig Builder Sr may be required to perform the duties and essential functions of Jig Builder and Jig Builder Lrnr\.
I\. Independently plans, lays out and performs all fabrication and assembly operations necessary to construct, maintain, and repair jigs and fixtures where a high degree of skill and extensive knowledge of tooling practice and application is required\.
a\. Works from drawings and specifications to develop jigs or fixtures, determines material requirements, lays out and completes any information lacking in the print in some cases develops and makes the tool complete from the parts drawings, makes any calculations necessary to develop required information and data and prepares any sketches necessary to machine, weld or assemble various parts of tools\.
b\. Completes tool in specified location, checks main tooling points, hinges and other location lines\. Adjusts control points to coordinate with master gauges\.
c\. Performs developmental work proceeding from own conception in absence of design and specifications\. Assumes responsibility for quality workmanship and dimensional accuracy\.
II\. Uses electronic measuring equipment, conventional optics, a wide variety of hand tools, some machine tools, and a variety of precision measuring instruments such as transit, level, caliper, micrometer, height gauge, dial gauge and sine bar\.
III\. Determine correct x, y, and z coordinate orientation\.
IV\. Take the measurements which are automatically fed into the computer\.
V\. Analyze and interpret the calculated data to present data in desired format\.
VI\. May guide and instruct lower grade employees\.
VII\. Responsible for quality of own work\.
VIII\. Performs other related duties as required\.
High school education or equivalent\. Uses advanced shop math, a variety of precision measuring instruments and interprets blueprints\. Basic computer skills\. Must commit to complete the required training courses\.
Five years jig building experience of which two years must be Textron Aviation Jig Builder experience\.
