Job Description

Exp Mech Welder



To layout, fabricate, weld and assemble parts, jigs, fixtures and assemblies for experimental projects\.


I\. Plans and performs a wide variety of operations to layout, fabricate, weld and assemble jigs, fixtures and assemblies for experimental projects\. Works from standard or recognized operations to complete job assignments\.

A\. Lays out parts and/or fabricates parts in accordance with blueprints and specifications\.

B\. Fabricates a variety of parts using hand and power tools\.

C\. Installs fabricated parts as required\.

II\. Required to build shop aid tools and templates from steel, aluminum or other materials\.

A\. Determines dimensions and tolerances from specifications to layout and fabricate weld fixtures\.

III\. Assembles metal parts and assemblies by MIG welding, TIG welding or brazing\.

IV\. Occasionally guides and instructs lower grade employees\.

V\. Works in accordance with safety rules and general safety practices\.

VI\. Performs other related duties as required\.



High school education or equivalent\. Uses shop math, blueprints, specifications, measuring devices and knowledge of welding and fabrication procedures\. Required to maintain welding certification\.


Requires over three years up to five years aircraft mechanic and fabrication experience, including 3 years certified welding and some experimental work\.
