Special Event Attendant

Part-time Regular


Location: Wichita, KS

Shift/Hours: Part time as needed

Travel Requirement: <10%

BrightWater Bay, a local Wichita venue, is looking for energetic individuals who will provide a welcoming environment for guests. This person will cover trade shows, events and be an ambassador for the BrightWater Bay team! Attention to detail is mandatory for this position. The ability to think on your feet and solve problems quickly is a plus. The job requires flexibility in hours including nights and weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include, but may not be limited to the following:

•Act as the director of first impressions for the property and represent the company in a professional manner.
•Plan Events
Assist Venue Manager with choosing locations, dates, menus and preparing guests lists
Make lists of what needs to be done prior to event and what needs to be left immediately before
•Set up Events
Arrive to locations early to ensure that needed items are ready to go
•Interact with Guests
Be knowledgeable about what BrightWater Bay has to offer
Skilled mingling during events to ensure guest satisfaction
Ensure guests are comfortable
•Facilitate Activities
Make sure activities go as scheduled
•Supervise Food Service
Communicate with catering company about what is needed for each event
Assist in times of need
•Support Event Staff
Depending on the type of event, there can be staff members to direct and manage, and the even host often assists event organizers with staff support.
•We’re all salespeople, all the time. We must strive to show the world what we are good at and reinforce that at every opportunity.

•High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
•Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills required.
•Customer service skills
•Strong detail orientation
•Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the Wichita region.
•Ability to work well in a team environment.

Job Specific Competencies

Interpersonal Skills- interacting with guests is a huge part of this job, must be able to get along with and relate to people from a variety backgrounds

Organization Skills- must be well organized and focused to make sure the event is well coordinated

Problem Solving Skills- it is inevitable that sometimes will not go as planned during an even, but the host must be able to solve any issues that arise

Poise- interacting with guests at an upscale event takes a certain level of composure and dignity. BrightWater Bay wants event attendants who have a neat appearance and who can be charming, witty, and graceful when it comes to dealing with others

Communication Skills- the event attendant talks to everyone who is involved in planning and executing an event. They need good listening skills and the ability to direct staff, greet guests and answer questions

Multitasking- an event attendant needs to simultaneously assist and interact with guests and answer questions

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
