Cobalt Boats, a leader in manufacturing of fine recreational boats, is looking for a talented Upholstery Technician to join our New Product Development team. This individual must demonstrate a high-level of craftsmanship and creativity.
Create physical prototypes to be reviewed against the established design criteria, and the current manufacturing fabrication and assembly methods. Fabrication of prototypes includes: partial disassembly and reassembly of components, cutting and gluing of foam and substrates, sewing and pulling of covers onto seats, dashes or panels.
Implement new processes that add to the innovation and styling of the product.
Create patterns for production. Clearly document all notes and processes.
Use a digitizer and AutoCAD to document all patterns for production and ensure patterns are nested correctly for cutting and manufacturing.
Review current production processes and evaluate methods that could reduce manufacturing time and improve quality.
May assist with upholstery maintenance or repairs at off-site locations.
Language Skills: English required. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High School Diploma or GED with 4-6 years of relevant experience
Must have Furniture, Marine or Automotive upholstery skills and manufacturing process experience.
Ability to interpret part prints and concept renderings
Must have basic computer skills
Must be able to lift 50lbs and can stand for periods of up to 8-10 hours.
Must be able to safely operate hand tools as well as specialized tools of the upholstery trade.
Must be able to travel up to 4 times a year to attend boat and/or trade shows
This is a skilled position that requires an eye for detail, shaping, symmetry, and design. It also requires speed, accuracy and the ability to work well and coordinate well with others.
This is a full-time position, located in Neodesha, KS. A standard work week is 6AM-4:30PM Monday through Thursday. This is an hourly position. Pay: $18.00-$25.00/hour.
