WSU is currently seeking to fill several Site Coordinator positions.
The Site Coordinator is responsible for the enrollment of eligible participants in assigned school. They establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with all USD 259 students and staff and provide leadership within the school in the implementation of the GEAR UP objectives and goals. The Site Coordinator plans academic, life skill and cultural activities, completes an Individual College Access Plan on each student in the school and conducts supervisory meetings with College Access Tutors and Mentors or other partners to make sure services outlined on the Individual College Access Plan are provided. Site Coordinators manage services provided within the school and provide advising, counseling, career awareness, college exploration, financial aid advising and any other duties to assist student in pursuing a college degree.
•Bachelor’s Degree or higher in education, counseling or related field.
•At least 2 years academic advising experience.
•Successful experience working with diverse populations.
•Demonstrated ability to communicate with and provide positive support to students, parents, and families.
•General knowledge of problems facing low-income students.
•Excellent communication skills.
•Excellent writing skills including reports and student file notes.
•Working knowledge of computers including word-processing, spreadsheets and databases.
•Must be flexible in availability based on students need and provide own transportation.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
•Work experience with target population and sensitivity to the intellectual and emotional needs of the target population.
•Demonstrated ability to assist students with completing FAFSA and college applications.
•Ability to research and present (to individuals or large groups) on wide variety of topics related to college entry.
•Strong skills in the use of Microsoft Office Programs
