The purpose of the position is to serve as a full professor and manage a university-based research institute, through coordination of resources and development of relationships and programs.
•Relevant doctoral degree.
•Demonstrated history of significant scientific leadership, including success in developing, writing and managing sponsored programs, primarily in, but not necessarily limited to aging research.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
•Ability to work independently and set priorities.
•Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to deal with the public; effective organization skills; strong written and oral communication skills; and advance level for word processing, report preparation.
•Organized, detail oriented, and possesses excellent planning and time management skills.
•Flexible, professional and self-directed.
•Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
•Ability to learn and apply institutional policies and procedures.
•Ability to maintain contacts with undergraduate and graduate students, faculty investigators, senior university administrators, and community organizations and leaders.
•Ability to efficiently disseminate information.
•Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
•Able to work effectively under time critical deadlines and handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
•Ability to interact with faculty, students, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
•Eligible as a tenured full professor.
•Demonstrated ability to foster career development of junior and mid-career investigators.
•Demonstrated ability to create linkages with other universities and foundations, both national and local.
•Demonstrated commitment to, and progress in, achieving the university’s strategic plan, goals and objectives in diversity.
