Overview:

A Child Start School Nurse – RN is dedicated to providing resource information to families in all areas of health including: medical, dental, environmental and nutrition. Our Nurses work flexible schedules, Monday through Friday, providing high quality care for children, families, staff and volunteers; as well as attend home-visits and case reviews to ensure health needs are addressed in all areas of Head Start and Early Head Start objectives. Ability to relate to health professionals, children, families, staff and pregnant teens, as well as data entry and documentation of referrals and services are considered essential responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities:

•Serves as Consultant/Facilitator for Head Start 0-5 Program Health Services to children, families and staff.
•Assists in the identification, coordination, completion of service and evaluation of health or family problems of enrolled children.
•Maintains awareness of current health services available in the community and works with physicians and other local health care providers to meet the needs of enrolled children.
•Responsible for the coordination of health follow-up services to identified children.
•Documents all health/family services that have been provided.
•Monitors health records at center sites.
•Administers and reads TB skin tests for staff and volunteers.

Qualifications:

•B.S.N. or R.N.
•Two years experience in community health, pediatrics, OB/GYN or school nursing/
•Knowledge of young children and pregnant women.
•Current Kansas Registered Nurse License. Ability to attain and maintain certification for audio metric testing.
•Must pass physical screening and health certificate, valid drivers license, reliable personal vehicle and liability insurance.
