Job Description

Role Expectations: Supervise and participate in a variety of activities associated with registering patients, maintaining various accounting and financial records and processing related data pertaining to Emergency Room patient care. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Supervise and participate in a variety of activities in the unit involved in registration of patients and the documentation and processing of financial data to include charges for treatment, receipt of payments and third-party claims information. • Review charges to ensure that patients are being billed according to current rates; supervise the proper coding and distribution of visit documentation. • Prepare financial reports and statements to reflect total patient revenue, charges and cash flow, charges generated, receipts and deposits. • Maintain interface with departmental personnel to provide information to verify and support records and to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. • Plan and schedule work for the group ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties. • Review of operating policies and procedures for the Business Office. • Recommend various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions, transfers and vacation schedules. • Actively participates on appropriate committees and Performance Improvement activities. • Assigns monitor to patients; observes cardiac monitor screen continuously. • Records rhythm strips every 6 hours. Rate, rhythm strips at the time they occur. • Chart any abnormal rhythm strips at the time they occur, notify RN immediately when there is a rhythm change. • Account for all cardiac monitors and document at the end of each 12 hours shift. • Responsible for ordering/stocking batteries, monitor patches and monitor pouches • Perform clerical duties as assigned.
